For most people, summer is the most convenient time to move. It’s also the most popular time. However, it doesn’t matter whether you’re moving during the summer or another season, moving can be stressful and demanding. So, you should look for ways to make it as quick and easy as possible. Below are a few tips for a simple and successful summer move.

Stay Cool

Hot weather during the summer can be dangerous, especially when you’re performing physical activity. To ensure you ‘beat the heat,’ schedule your move for the morning hours. Mornings are moderately cool even during the warmer months. However, for optimum ‘coolness’ and safety, stay hydrated and wear light clothing. Also, don’t forget to offer cold drinks to the movers. Finally, remember that 'beating the heat' also includes staying organized and moving at a manageable pace.

Avoid Busy Moving Times

During the warmer months, weekends and the beginning or end of the month are the busiest moving times. The last weekends of May and July can be the busiest of the season. Movers may be swamped during these times, so try booking your move on a week day, mid-month, if possible. Business is a little slower for almost every Edmonton moving company on weekdays, making it more likely for you to get the day and time that you prefer.

Pack for the Weather

Some items won’t survive a trip in a hot moving truck. Items like candles, electronics and even some glass dishes and furniture shouldn’t be placed on the moving truck. If they are, they should be specially wrapped and packed, preferably with heat-resistant packing material, cooling packs or special boxes. Talk to your moving company to see which items are best transported in  your car.

Book Your Move Early

Since summer is the busiest time for movers, it’s also the most demanding time for them. High demand leads to more competition and sometimes higher rates, so book your move as early as possible. The schedules of top movers, like our team at Pro Service Moving, may be filling up quickly. Start planning your move now!
